About $590,000 at the middle of the market. The median Pittsburg home sold for $590,609 in August 2026, up just 0.1% from a year earlier (Redfin, Pittsburg housing market page, August 2026, checked September 24, 2026).

Flat on price, but not sleepy. Homes still sold in about three weeks, and more than half went over asking. Here’s the full picture and how to use it on one house.

What did Pittsburg homes sell for in August 2026?

A median of $590,609 across all home types. Redfin’s snapshot for the month (Redfin, Pittsburg housing market page, August 2026, checked September 24, 2026):

Measure August 2026
Median sale price $590,609
Change from a year earlier up 0.1%
Homes sold 113
Median days on market 23
Sale price as a share of list price 99.6%
Homes sold above list price 55.5%
Homes with a price drop 34.3%
Median price per square foot $331

That median blends condos, townhomes and single-family houses. A month with more condos in the mix pulls it down. A month with more newer houses pulls it up. So use it as a starting point, not as the price of the home you’re looking at.

Is Pittsburg cheaper than the rest of Contra Costa County?

Yes, by a wide margin, though the two numbers aren’t measured the same way. C.A.R. put the Contra Costa County median at $875,000 in August 2026, up 2.9% from a year earlier (C.A.R., August 2026 home sales and price report, released September 16, 2026). C.A.R. counts existing single-family homes only, while Redfin’s Pittsburg median includes every home type. So the true house-for-house gap is smaller than $875,000 minus $590,609. How much smaller, these two figures can’t tell you.

What does $331 a square foot mean for a real house?

It’s a rough yardstick. At Redfin’s August 2026 median of $331 per square foot, a 1,500 square foot home works out to about $496,500 and a 2,000 square foot home to about $662,000. That’s our arithmetic on Redfin’s median, not a price for any actual home.

Real prices move off that line for plain reasons: the age of the house, the lot, the condition of the kitchen and roof, HOA dues, and how close it sits to BART or Highway 4. Recent sales of similar homes on nearby streets beat any per-foot average.

Are Pittsburg homes selling over asking?

More than half are. Redfin shows 55.5% of August 2026 sales closing above list price, while Redfin’s sale-to-list figure was 99.6% (Redfin, August 2026). Both are true at once because some homes draw several offers and others sit and get cut.

That second group is real. 34.3% of homes had a price drop. If you’re selling, pricing right on day one matters more than a high first ask. If you’re buying, a home that has been cut once may leave room to negotiate. A home that just listed at a fair price may not.

How fast are homes selling?

Half of them in about three weeks or less. The median Pittsburg home spent 23 days on the market in August 2026 (Redfin). For county context, C.A.R. reported 20 median days on market for Contra Costa County single-family homes in August 2026, and 2.7 months of unsold inventory (C.A.R., August 2026 report). Pittsburg is moving at roughly the county’s pace.

What should I do with these numbers?

Pick the home type and the streets first, then look at sales like it. Here’s how:

  • Buying: Get the last three to six months of sales for homes with a similar size, age and lot within a few blocks. Add property tax, HOA dues and any special taxes shown on the tax bill before you settle on a budget. A tax professional or the Contra Costa County Treasurer-Tax Collector can explain those charges.
  • Selling: Price from those same recent sales, not from the city median. Check how many nearby listings have taken a price cut. That tells you how much room the market is giving sellers right now.
