Plenty, most of it outdoors or downtown. You can walk or bike the Iron Horse Regional Trail through the middle of town, shop the year-round Saturday farmers’ market, tour Eugene O’Neill’s Tao House, and reach Mount Diablo State Park and Las Trampas from town.

What is there to do in downtown Danville?
Eat, shop and catch a show, mostly within a few blocks of Railroad Avenue and Front Street. The town’s own events run out of the Town Green, next to the Danville Library and the Danville Community Center, and the Village Theatre stages shows at 233 Front Street (Town of Danville, Community Parks page and events calendar, checked September 25, 2026).
The Museum of the San Ramon Valley sits at 205 Railroad Avenue, and the town says it’s open Saturdays from 10 am to 1 pm, right next to the farmers’ market (Town of Danville, Danville Farmers’ Market page, checked September 25, 2026).
When is the Danville farmers’ market?
Every Saturday, all year, rain or shine, 9 am to 1 pm. It sets up in the Railroad Avenue municipal parking lot at the corner of Railroad and Prospect avenues, and the Pacific Coast Farmers’ Market Association runs it for the town (Town of Danville, Danville Farmers’ Market page, checked September 25, 2026).
Leave the dog at home. The town notes that health codes keep dogs out of the market unless they are certified service animals.
Where can I walk or bike in Danville?
The Iron Horse Regional Trail is the big one. It runs 32 miles between Concord and Pleasanton on the old Southern Pacific rail line, is open 5 am to 10 pm, and allows bikes, e-bikes, dogs and horses. Danville trailheads include the Danville Boulevard, Lisa Lane and Stone Valley Road staging areas (East Bay Regional Park District, Iron Horse Regional Trail page, checked September 25, 2026).
Heads up before you ride: the park district says Caltrans is working on the I-680 overpass above the trail in Danville, between Sycamore Valley Road and San Ramon Valley Boulevard, and asks trail users to use caution and stay on the paved trail (same page, updated September 25, 2026).

Oak Hill Park, at 3005 Stone Valley Road, is 43 acres with a small lake and a hillside trail with an exercise course, open dawn to dusk (Town of Danville, Oak Hill Park page, checked September 25, 2026). Can I hike Mount Diablo from Danville?
Yes. The town points residents to Mount Diablo State Park as a regional draw, where you can climb, bike or drive toward the 3,849 foot summit (Town of Danville, Community Parks page, checked September 25, 2026). Check California State Parks for gate hours, fees and fire season closures before you head up.
How do I visit Tao House?
By reservation, on a free National Park Service shuttle. Eugene O’Neill National Historic Site sits inside a private, gated community, so no personal cars are allowed. The shuttle meets at 205 Railroad Avenue downtown. Tours run Wednesday through Sunday at 10 am and 2 pm and take about two hours. What should I know if I’m buying near these places?
Walk it at the hour you’d use it. A home close to the Iron Horse Trail, downtown or a park is handy, and it can also mean more foot traffic, event parking or noise on busy weekends. Visit on a Saturday morning during the market and again on a weekday evening. Then decide.
