For most Orinda addresses, Orinda Union School District runs the TK to 8 schools and Acalanes Union High School District runs the high school, Miramonte High on Moraga Way. Which elementary school serves a specific house depends on the attendance area, so verify every address with the district before you write an offer.

Here’s how to check, and what the state’s 2025 data shows for each school.

Which school districts serve Orinda?

Two districts, one for each level:

  • Orinda Union School District (OUSD). TK through 8th grade. Four elementary schools and Orinda Intermediate School. District office at 8 Altarinda Road, (925) 254-4901.
  • Acalanes Union High School District (AUHSD). Grades 9 to 12. Miramonte High School, at 750 Moraga Way, is the district’s high school in Orinda.

Homes near the town line with Lafayette, Moraga or unincorporated land can fall in a different attendance area, or even a different district. Don’t go by the city name on the listing.

How do I check the schools for a specific address?

Ask the district, in writing. Three steps:

  1. Use the OUSD Attendance Area page. Orinda Union School District posts its attendance area information at orindaschools.org under Enrollment, Attendance Area (checked September 25, 2026).
  2. Call to confirm. The OUSD district office is (925) 254-4901. For high school, contact Acalanes Union High School District at acalanes.k12.ca.us.
  3. Save the answer. Keep the email or a screenshot with the date. Boundaries and enrollment rules can change.

Do this before your contingencies expire, not after.

What does the 2025 state data show for Orinda’s schools?

These are the district’s and each school’s own results on the 2025 California School Dashboard, the state’s official report. ELA and math are shown as points above the state standard on the state test. Higher means further above standard.

What does the 2025 data show for Miramonte High?

From the 2025 California School Dashboard (checked September 25, 2026):

Measure Miramonte High Acalanes Union High School District
Graduation rate 97.7% 97.7%
Prepared for college or career 89.8% 83.7%
ELA, points above standard 139.7 95.2
Math, points above standard 90.5 49.5

The Dashboard lists Miramonte’s enrollment at 1,167 and the district’s at 5,425. Miramonte’s suspension rate was 1.4%.

How should I read these numbers?

As one input, not a verdict. The Dashboard measures test results, attendance and graduation for the students enrolled that year. It doesn’t measure a school’s programs, class sizes or whether a school fits your student. Visit, read the school’s School Accountability Report Card on the district site, and ask the school your own questions.

We don’t rank schools, and nothing here is a promise about any school’s future results.

Do Orinda schools come with parcel taxes?

Yes. Orinda Union School District lists three parcel taxes on local property: Measure A at $385 per parcel (approved 2003), Measure B at $124 (2009) and Measure Z at $295 a year for seven years (approved March 7, 2023). Exemptions exist for some owners (Orinda Union School District, Parcel Tax Measures A, B, Z page, checked September 25, 2026). They show up on the property tax bill. For what that means for your budget, talk to a tax professional or the Contra Costa County Treasurer-Tax Collector.

Does the school change what a house is worth?

It can, but price the house, not the label. Buyers often compare homes in the same attendance area. When we price an Orinda home, we look at recent sales on comparable streets, and those sales already reflect what buyers paid for location, lot and house together.
