By transit, you ride Tri Delta Transit route 373 from the Oakley Park n Ride at 4300 Main Street to Antioch BART, a 24-minute trip on the weekday timetable (Tri Delta Transit, route 373 timetable and Mobility Hubs page, checked September 25, 2026). The new Oakley train station has no opening date yet. The San Joaquin Regional Rail Commission lists construction for winter 2026/27, and it will be an Amtrak stop, not BART (San Joaquin Regional Rail Commission, Capital Programs page, checked September 25, 2026).
So today the trip starts on a bus or in your car. Here’s how each piece works from Oakley, and what the station will and won’t change.
Where do I catch the bus to BART in Oakley?
At the Oakley Park n Ride, 4300 Main Street. Tri Delta calls it a mobility hub: park your car, get on the bus (Tri Delta Transit, Mobility Hubs page, checked September 25, 2026).
You don’t have to start there. Heading west, route 373 also stops on Main Street at Norcross Lane, Teakwood Drive, Charles Way and Big Break Road before it turns onto East 18th Street in Antioch (route 373 timetable, checked September 25, 2026). If your house is closer to one of those corners than to the Park n Ride, walk to that stop instead.
How often does the 373 run from Oakley?
About once an hour, seven days a week. On weekdays the first bus leaves the Oakley Park n Ride at 5:13 am and gets to Antioch BART at 5:37 am. After that it’s 6:13, 7:13, then most hours at 13 past, with the last westbound trip at 11:13 pm (route 373 weekday timetable, checked September 25, 2026).
Tri Delta says its times are approximate and it tries to stay within 3 minutes of them. Traffic and boarding can push that, so give yourself cushion for the train.
What does a real morning trip into the city look like?
Here’s one weekday chain on paper, using Tri Delta’s timetable and BART’s schedule for Wednesday, October 7, 2026 (both checked September 25, 2026):
| Leg | Leave | Arrive |
|---|---|---|
| Route 373, Oakley Park n Ride to Antioch BART | 6:13 am | 6:37 am |
| BART, Antioch to Montgomery Street | 6:47 am | 8:01 am |
That’s 1 hour and 48 minutes from the Park n Ride to Montgomery Street, before the walk to your desk. Miss the 6:47 train and BART shows the next ones at 7:07 and 7:27 am.
Coming home, a 4:39 pm train from Montgomery reaches Antioch at 5:52 pm. The 6:00 pm bus from Antioch BART is scheduled into the Oakley Park n Ride at 6:21 pm (same sources and date). The last weekday bus from Antioch BART leaves at midnight and reaches the Park n Ride at 12:22 am.
What does it cost?
Adding the posted fares, one adult trip to Montgomery Street comes to about $11.65. That’s Tri Delta’s $2.00 local cash fare for riders 6 to 64 (Tri Delta Transit, Fares and Passes, checked September 25, 2026) plus $9.65 for BART from Antioch to Montgomery on Clipper (BART fare data for October 7, 2026).
Pay with Clipper and it gets cheaper. Tri Delta gives a BART-to-bus transfer discount only on Clipper, and one bus-to-bus transfer within 2 hours is free on Clipper (Tri Delta Transit, Transfer Policy, checked September 25, 2026). Riding every day? Tri Delta’s 31-Day Pass is $57.00 for the general public.
Shorter trips cost less. BART lists Antioch to Walnut Creek at 37 minutes and $5.40, and to 12th Street Oakland at 61 minutes and $7.30 (BART data for October 7, 2026).
Is there a bus inside Oakley too?
Yes, one small route. Tri Delta’s route 362, the Blue Goose Park / Oakley Loop, runs one morning and one afternoon trip on weekdays. It stops at the Oakley Park n Ride at 7:45 am and 4:01 pm, with stops on O’Hara Avenue, Laurel Road, Vintage Parkway, Empire Avenue and West Cypress Road (Tri Delta Transit, route 362 timetable, checked September 25, 2026).
With two trips a day, it’s a local loop, not a BART connection. For the train, plan on the 373.
When will the Oakley train station open?
Nobody has published an opening date. The San Joaquin Regional Rail Commission lists “Oakley Station” as a new station with a 720-foot passenger platform and covered canopies, with bids starting summer 2026 and construction in winter 2026/27. It also says the parking lot will be built by the city (SJRRC, Capital Programs page, checked September 25, 2026).
Treat those as targets, not a promise. Rail projects slip. Buy for the commute you have today. If a train shows up while you own the house, that’s a bonus.
Will the Oakley station be BART?
No. It’s an Amtrak stop on the Gold Runner line, the route formerly called the San Joaquins. Today the closest Gold Runner stop is the Antioch-Pittsburg station at 100 I Street in Antioch (Amtrak, Gold Runner timetable and Antioch-Pittsburg station page, checked September 25, 2026). These trains connect the Bay Area with the Central Valley. They are not a BART replacement for a daily ride into San Francisco.
What happens to the Antioch Amtrak stop when Oakley opens?
It is set to be decommissioned once Oakley opens. On March 24, 2023, the San Joaquin Joint Powers Authority board voted 6 to 0 to approve decommissioning the Antioch-Pittsburg passenger stop. The motion as amended requires staff to work with other transit agencies on ways to travel between the Antioch and Oakley stations and does not rule out recommissioning an Antioch station later. At that meeting, staff said the Antioch station would not be decommissioned until the Oakley station is activated (SJJPA minutes of the March 24, 2023 board meeting, May 19, 2023 board packet).
It is still being discussed. On November 21, 2025, the board met in Antioch and heard an update from its Ad Hoc Antioch Station Working Group and a presentation from the City of Antioch (SJJPA minutes, January 23, 2026 board packet). Check SJJPA’s latest board agenda before you count on either stop.
Is driving to Antioch BART a better bet?
Maybe. It depends on where in Oakley you live and when you leave. Tri Delta pitches the Park n Ride as a way to skip parking and the Highway 4 backup at the station. No official source publishes a typical drive time we’d stand behind, so check the drive on 511.org or a map app at the exact hour you’d leave, on a weekday, before you write an offer.
If you’re east of Jersey Island Road, the drive to Main Street is changing too. The city is widening East Cypress Road from Knightsen Avenue to Bethel Island Road, six lanes west of Jersey Island Road and four lanes east of it, and says the work will be done by the end of 2026 (City of Oakley, Evacuation Information page, checked September 25, 2026). Expect construction on that stretch until then.
How do I test this commute before I buy in Oakley?
One early morning tells you more than any listing.
- Find your stop. Map the house to the Park n Ride and to the nearest 373 stop on Main Street.
- Ride it. Take the 6:13 or 7:13 bus and the train to your real stop, on a weekday.
- Drive it. Next day, drive to Antioch BART or your office at the same hour.
- Price it. Put the monthly passes or gas, parking and tolls next to the mortgage payment.
