Vallejo’s public schools are run by Vallejo City Unified School District (VCUSD), which lists 15 schools on its site for 2026. Which one a home feeds into depends on the exact street address, and several elementary schools closed in 2026, so look the address up with the district before you write an offer.

Old listing notes and old maps can be wrong this year. Here’s how to get the real answer.

Which schools does Vallejo City Unified run right now?

The district’s Our Schools page lists these 15 campuses (VCUSD, Our Schools page, checked September 24, 2026):

  • Elementary: Cooper Elementary (612 Del Mar Ave.), Dan Mini Elementary (1530 Lorenzo Dr.), Federal Terrace Elementary (415 Daniels Ave.), Glen Cove Elementary (501 Glen Cove Pkwy.), Patterson Elementary (1080 Porter St.), Steffan Manor Elementary (815 Cedar St.), Wardlaw Elementary (1698 Oakwood Ave.).
  • TK to 8: Cave Language Academy (770 Tregaskis Ave.), Solano Widenmann Leadership Academy (1025 Corcoran Ave.), Vallejo Charter School (400 Rickover St.).
  • Middle: Hogan Middle School (850 Rosewood Ave.).
  • High: Jesse Bethel High School (1800 Ascot Pkwy.), Vallejo High School (840 Nebraska St.).
  • Alternative and adult: John Finney Education Complex (1347 Amador St.) and Vallejo Adult School at Al Berenguer Educational Center (436 Del Sur St.).

The district office is at 665 Walnut Avenue, (707) 556-8921.

Which Vallejo schools closed?

Five, over two school years. The district’s closure FAQ says Mare Island Health and Fitness Academy and Loma Vista Environmental Science Academy closed for the 2025 to 2026 school year (VCUSD, Closure and Consolidation FAQ, checked September 24, 2026).

Then on April 1, 2026, the VCUSD board voted unanimously, for the second time, to close Lincoln, Highland and Pennycook Elementary at the end of the 2025 to 2026 school year. Students at those three schools are being reassigned to nearby VCUSD campuses. The district tied the closures to a $32 million deficit (VCUSD news release, April 1, 2026).

What that means for you: if a listing, a neighbor or an old map names one of those five schools, it’s out of date. The address lookup below is what counts.

How do I find the school for one address?

Use the district’s tool, then call to confirm. On the Enroll at VCUSD page, the “Find Your Neighborhood School” button opens the district’s school locator, where you type in a street address (VCUSD, Enroll at VCUSD page, checked September 24, 2026).

  1. Put the full street address into the locator.
  2. Write down the school it shows for each grade level.
  3. Call the district at (707) 556-8921 to verify it. Assignments changed for students at the closed schools, and boundaries can change again.

A listing, a website or an agent’s word is not a boundary. The district is.

What about charter schools with a Vallejo address?

They’re a separate choice. The state Dashboard lists several charter schools under VCUSD, including MIT Academy, Griffin Academy High and Caliber: ChangeMakers Academy (California School Dashboard, 2025, checked September 24, 2026). Charter schools set their own enrollment process, so a home’s address doesn’t decide a seat there. Check each school’s own rules.

What do the state numbers say?

Here are the official numbers from the California School Dashboard, run by the California Department of Education. The 2025 Dashboard uses 2024 to 2025 school year data. Every number in this section comes from each school’s or the district’s 2025 Dashboard report, checked September 24, 2026.

Two terms first. “Distance from standard” is how many points the average test score sits above or below the “Standard Met” level in English and math. Chronic absenteeism is the share of students in kindergarten through grade 8 who missed 10% or more of school days, so it isn’t reported for a high school.

The district and the state

  • VCUSD, whole district (9,303 students): English 66.3 points below standard, math 92.3 below, chronic absenteeism 33.1%, graduation rate 79.5%, 27.4% “Prepared” on the College/Career measure.
  • California, all students: English 8.1 below, math 42.4 below, chronic absenteeism 17.1%, graduation rate 87.8%, 51.7% “Prepared.”

High schools

  • Jesse Bethel High (grades 9 to 12, 1,418 students): English 78.9 below, math 117.8 below, graduation rate 88.3%, 38.0% “Prepared.”
  • Vallejo High (grades 9 to 12, 1,146 students): English 66.0 below, math 90.8 below, graduation rate 72.3%, 23.8% “Prepared.”

Middle and TK to 8

  • Hogan Middle (grades 6 to 8, 785 students): English 79.3 below, math 118.3 below, chronic absenteeism 34.0%.
  • Cave Language Academy (505 students): English 3.1 below, math 31.5 below, chronic absenteeism 16.4%.
  • Solano Widenmann Leadership Academy (615 students): English 77.9 below, math 120.6 below, chronic absenteeism 30.5%.

Elementary

  • Cooper: English 76.7 below, math 78.4 below, chronic absenteeism 38.7%.
  • Dan Mini: English 46.6 below, math 59.1 below, chronic absenteeism 27.6%.
  • Federal Terrace: English 73.5 below, math 71.7 below, chronic absenteeism 39.6%.
  • Glen Cove: English 26.4 below, math 45.5 below, chronic absenteeism 27.6%.
  • Patterson: English 59.1 below, math 80.4 below, chronic absenteeism 39.6%.
  • Steffan Manor: English 45.5 below, math 66.3 below, chronic absenteeism 33.1%.
  • Wardlaw: English 34.9 below, math 57.0 below, chronic absenteeism 34.2%.

Two cautions. These are 2024 to 2025 results, before the 2026 closures moved students between campuses. And one year is one data point. Open each school’s Dashboard page and look at the trend and the color for each measure.

What about GreatSchools or Niche ratings?

Those are private websites with their own rating methods, and some home search sites show them next to listings. We don’t repeat their scores as fact. If you use them, read how each site builds its rating and compare it with the state Dashboard numbers above.
