How do I check the schools for a specific Moraga address?
Ask each district, in writing, with the exact address.
- Elementary and intermediate. Moraga School District sets neighborhood attendance areas that decide a student’s home school at first enrollment. It posts a “Moraga School District Boundaries by Street” list on its School’s Boundary Information page (Moraga School District, checked September 25, 2026). Look up the street, then call the district office to confirm.
- High school. Acalanes Union High says “your neighborhood high school is based on your street address.” Use its Schoolsite Locator Tool on the School Site Information page, or call residency staff at 925-280-3900, ext. 6629 (Acalanes Union High School District, checked September 25, 2026).
- Transfers are not a sure thing. Moraga School District has an intradistrict open enrollment policy. Transfer requests are due by July 1 and are ranked by criteria the Board sets (same MSD page). Don’t buy counting on a transfer.
Listing remarks and school-finder websites can be wrong or out of date. The districts are the answer that counts.
What does the 2025 state data show for Moraga’s elementary and intermediate schools?
All four scored above the state standard in English and math. The California School Dashboard reports test results as points above or below the standard (California School Dashboard, 2025 data, read September 25, 2026):

Don’t assume the high school from the town name. Run the exact address in the district’s locator.
How should I read these numbers?
As one piece of the picture. The Dashboard measures test results, attendance, graduation and discipline for a school year. It doesn’t measure a teacher, a program or a fit for your student. Read each school’s full Dashboard page and its School Accountability Report Card (Moraga School District posts its SARC reports on its site), visit, and ask questions. Numbers change every year, and a small school can swing more than a large one.
Do Moraga homes pay school parcel taxes?
Yes. They show up on the property tax bill.
- Moraga School District, Measure K. $325 a parcel, approved March 2, 2004 with 66.8% of the vote.
- Moraga School District, Measure M. $192 a parcel at approval on March 3, 2020 (70.8%), adjusted each year by no more than 3% for inflation.
- Moraga School District, Measure I. $295 a parcel a year for seven years, starting July 1, 2026. It passed on June 2, 2026 with 70.44% yes, above the two-thirds it needed, per the county’s official final results for the June 2, 2026 election (Contra Costa County Elections, Official Results, Final, June 25, 2026, read September 25, 2026). The district’s own page, checked the same day, still says it “has not been officially certified,” so the county’s final results are the newer word. The county’s impartial analysis says the existing two taxes are $325 and $216, so the total with Measure I is $836 a parcel (Contra Costa Elections, Measure I page, checked September 25, 2026). Owners 65 and older who live in the home, and certain SSI or SSDI recipients, can apply for an exemption.
- Acalanes Union High, Measure W. A proposed $168 a parcel for eight years, on the November 3, 2026 ballot. It needs two-thirds approval (Acalanes Union High, Measure W page, checked September 25, 2026).
Read the current tax bill for the house. For what these mean for your budget, ask a tax professional or the Contra Costa County Treasurer-Tax Collector. Parcel tax questions for Moraga School District go to (925) 376-5943.
