Dixon Unified School District serves the city of Dixon, and it assigns your neighborhood school by address. To check a specific home, open the Boundary Map linked on the district’s home page at dixonusd.org, then call the district at (707) 693-6300 to confirm before you write an offer.
Don’t rely on a listing’s school line. Listing sites guess, and boundaries can change.
Which schools does Dixon Unified run?
Six neighborhood and alternative schools are named on the district’s website (Dixon Unified School District home page, checked September 25, 2026):
- Elementary: Anderson Elementary, Gretchen Higgins Elementary, Tremont Elementary
- Middle: John Knight Middle School
- High: Dixon High School and Maine Prairie High School (listed on the Dashboard as a continuation school)
The California School Dashboard also lists Dixon Community Day as a district school (California School Dashboard, Dixon Unified 2025 school list, read September 25, 2026). The district’s enrollment page calls Gretchen Higgins its only Dual Language Immersion school, in English and Spanish, and lists an informational meeting for the program (Dixon Unified, Enrollment page, checked September 25, 2026).
How do I check one Dixon address?
One map, one call, and do it early.
- Boundary Map. The district’s home page links a Boundary Map. Find the home on it and note the elementary school area.
- Call the district. (707) 693-6300. Ask which elementary, middle and high school the exact address feeds into for the grade you need.
- Read the enrollment rules. Dixon Unified says students enroll in their neighborhood school based on address, and if a grade is full, a student may be reassigned to another school, with notice by email. To ask for a different school, you finish the regular enrollment first, then apply for an intradistrict transfer (Dixon Unified, Enrollment page, checked September 25, 2026).
So an address sets your resident school, but it doesn’t lock in a seat. Ask about space in the grade you need before your contingencies run out.
What do the state numbers say about Dixon Unified?
These come from the 2025 California School Dashboard, which reports the 2024 to 2025 school year. We read them from the Dashboard’s public data for Dixon Unified (CDS code 48705320000000) and the state on September 25, 2026.
“Points below standard” is how far the average student’s score sits under the “Standard Met” line on the state tests. “Prepared” is the share of graduates the state counts as ready for college or a career.
| Measure (2025 Dashboard) | Dixon Unified | California |
|---|---|---|
| English | 47.2 points below standard (down 5.3) | 8.1 below |
| Math | 72.5 points below standard (down 1.3) | 42.4 below |
| Graduation rate | 90.8% | 87.8% |
| College/career “Prepared” | 40.9% | 51.7% |

The honest read: Dixon Unified is above the state on graduation and below it on English and math scores, college and career readiness, and attendance, on the 2025 Dashboard. District numbers blend every school, and the school your address feeds into can differ.

One year is a snapshot. Look up each school at caschooldashboard.org, compare two or three years, and read its School Accountability Report Card on the district website for class sizes and staffing. Then verify the school assignment with the district.
What about school ratings sites?
They are private sites with their own formulas. We don’t quote their scores as fact. If you use them, read how the score is built and compare it with the state’s own Dashboard numbers.
Could the school for my Dixon address change?
It could, especially near new construction. The proposed Harvest at Dixon master plan southeast of town includes a proposed elementary school site, and the city expects the Draft EIR in early 2027 (City of Dixon, Harvest at Dixon page, checked September 25, 2026). New schools and growth can lead the district to redraw attendance areas through its school board. If you’re buying new construction, ask the builder which schools the lots are assigned to, then confirm with the district, because the builder doesn’t set boundaries.
