Mostly outdoor and small-town things. You can walk or bike the paved Lafayette-Moraga Regional Trail, spend a Sunday morning at the farmers market in Moraga Center, catch a Thursday night concert at Moraga Commons in summer, and turn up for Town events at the Commons and the Hacienda de las Flores. For big nightlife or a large mall, plan on driving to a bigger city nearby.
Here’s where to go, with the official page for each so you can check hours and dates.
Where can I walk, run or bike in Moraga?
Start with the Lafayette-Moraga Regional Trail. It’s a 7.65-mile paved linear park, 10 feet wide, that runs alongside St. Mary’s Road through Lafayette and Moraga. It connects to Saint Mary’s College, Moraga Commons and downtown Moraga, and ends at EBMUD’s Valle Vista staging area on the edge of town. The stretch from Rheem Boulevard to Moraga Commons has a par course, and the Commons has restrooms and drinking water (East Bay Regional Park District, Lafayette-Moraga Regional Trail page, checked September 25, 2026).
Heading onto EBMUD land past Valle Vista? The park district notes you need an EBMUD trail permit there. Get it before you go.
What is at Moraga Commons Park?
The town’s main gathering spot, at St. Mary’s Road and Moraga Road. It has the bandshell, a stop on the regional trail, and the newest piece of public art: a pear sculpture by artist Pierre Riche at the park entrance near the flagpole, a nod to Moraga’s pear orchard history (Town of Moraga, About Town staff update, September 10, 2026, and Pear and Wine Festival page, checked September 25, 2026).
In summer, the Moraga Park Foundation runs the Summer Concert Series at the Commons on Thursday nights from 6:30 to 8:30 pm. Food trucks sell dinner, picnics are welcome, and you bring your own chair or blanket (Town of Moraga, Summer Concert Series page, checked September 25, 2026). Watch that page in spring for the 2027 lineup.
When is the Moraga farmers market?
Every Sunday, 9:00 am to 1:00 pm, at Moraga Road and Moraga Way in Moraga Center. The California Farmers’ Markets Association lists 40-plus farmers and food makers, and names a Halloween Harvest Festival among the market’s yearly events (California Farmers’ Markets Association, Moraga Farmers’ Market page, checked September 25, 2026). Check the market’s page for this year’s festival date.
What is the Hacienda de las Flores?
A Town-owned park and event site at 2100 Donald Drive, with a main building that dates to 1916, plus the Casita and the Terrace Room (Town of Moraga, About Town staff update, September 10, 2026; Lamorinda Weekly, August 12, 2026). Private events are booked there through Wedgewood Weddings.
In summer the Town runs Hacienda Nights, with a rotating lineup of food trucks and drinks on the grounds (Town of Moraga, Hacienda Nights page, checked September 25, 2026). One change to know about: the 1977 La Sala building on the property is closed, and the Town Council directed staff on July 8, 2026 to plan its demolition (Town of Moraga, About Town staff update, July 9, 2026).
What events happen in Moraga each year?
Dates change every year, so check the Town’s calendar at moraga.ca.us before you plan around one. The Town also lists yearly events on its Special Events page, including the Pear and Wine Festival, (not so) Creepy Commons for Halloween, holiday events with Santa, and the July 4 celebration. The festival is the big fall one: a harvest and heritage day at Moraga Commons, typically held at the end of September, with free admission and parking (Town of Moraga, Pear and Wine Festival page, checked September 25, 2026). The Creepy Commons page still shows last year’s details, so check back for the 2026 date.
Can I help shape Moraga’s parks?
Yes. The Town is updating its Parks, Recreation and Open Space Master Plan to guide the next 20 years of parks, trails and open space. The Council and the Parks and Recreation Commission reviewed the draft recommendations on September 9, 2026, and the plan goes back to the Parks and Recreation Commission on October 12, 2026 (Town of Moraga, PROS Master Plan page, checked September 25, 2026). Meetings are open to the public.
Where do people shop and eat in Moraga?
At the two shopping centers, Rheem Valley and Moraga Center, plus a handful of spots near them. Rheem is in the middle of changes: a Grocery Outlet is under construction with an opening expected in early 2027, and a Chipotle is planned (Lamorinda Weekly, June 10 and July 8, 2026). If a wide choice of restaurants matters to you, count the drive to a neighboring downtown as part of your week.
