Toward Davis and Sacramento, you now have a real choice: drive I-80 or take the new Route 30 bus, which runs from the Dixon Park and Ride to UC Davis in 20 minutes and to downtown Sacramento in about 30 (Solano Mobility, Route 30 schedule effective September 14, 2026). Toward the Bay Area, it’s mostly a drive, with a slower bus to Concord BART and trains you have to drive to.
Dixon has no train station. The Capitol Corridor runs on the tracks through town but does not stop here (City of Dixon, Notice of Preparation for the Harvest and Lombardo Ranch EIR, June 26, 2026). Here’s each option, with times and fares for a sample weekday, Tuesday, October 6, 2026.
How long is the drive from Dixon?
No agency publishes a typical Dixon drive time, and a weekend map estimate won’t match a Tuesday at 7:30 a.m. Dixon sits right on I-80. East takes you through Davis to Sacramento. West takes you through Vacaville and Fairfield toward the Bay Area.
Here’s how to get a real number. Pick the exact address and arrival time. Drive it on a Tuesday or Wednesday at that hour, both ways. Check 511.org for live traffic before you go. Then decide.

When will the I-80 express lanes reach Dixon?

You need a FasTrak tag and you pay the posted toll. With one passenger, a FasTrak Flex switched to 2 cuts the toll in half. With three or more people, or on a motorcycle or in a vanpool, a Flex switched to 3+ means no toll (511.org, I-80 Express Lanes page, checked September 25, 2026).
- East, toward Sacramento. Caltrans is building the Yolo 80 Corridor Improvements Project: express lanes, bike and pedestrian paths and traffic technology on I-80 from the Solano and Yolo county line to West El Camino Avenue, and on US-50 to I-5. Construction started April 14, 2025. Caltrans expects to finish in fall 2027, at a total cost of $465 million (Caltrans District 3, Yolo 80 project page, checked September 25, 2026).
